In order to roll out large scale projects for major clients, CarbonEMT has developed a high quality project management model, allowing us to ‘plug and play’ so we can efficiently and effectively undertake high project volumes, as well as assist our clients through every step of the process.
As part of this, we follow our metering strategy process (overview below), which is supported by rigorous documentation and safety procedures.
First, we develop a metering strategy with the client that sets clear outcomes required for the building. This assists to define the systems and tools required for the project and is the basis for forming the project scope.

We investigate the site and create an up to date Single Line Diagram of the metering network, as well as a meter register, and confirm that the metering and tenancy floor plan are aligned.
A new Single Line Diagram is created, detailing the new metering (or metering to be replaced) that provides a manageable structure and meets the metering strategy objectives.
We then standardise the metering equipment and related software, including the metering selection, meter programming, communications method, and hardware.
After the above has been completed, we then put together a formal scope of works and release tender requirements.
We often complete installations directly, but we also manage the installation of the metering hardware by others (particularly in other states). Where an external party is used, we still program, commission and reconcile the meters to confirm the installation is correct.
This is a critical step in our quality assurance and ability to deliver all intended project objectives.
Each meter is checked for installation accuracy and commissioned by way of probing the meter and its output to confirm it is performing as intended
Once commissioned, all meters are validated by being run in-line with a high-accuracy test device over a period of time to ensure their measurement accuracy.
Finally, we ensure the integrity of the meter data and control of balance energy to within 1%. We confirm the meter network structure is as designed and reconcile the meter tree to audit the installation.
Energy Management System software (MeterView) is commissioned, report and alarm parameters are set-up and building services are monitored to make sure they are operating efficiently.
