NABERS (National Australian Built Environment Reporting System)

The NABERS system is an energy efficiency star rating system for commercial buildings, retail and hotels. While it is not mandatory, a star rated building attracts high profile tenants who are required to adhere to their own corporate environmental policy.

NABERS rates a building on the basis of operational efficiency and its impact on the environment. Conditions of maintaining NABERS certification is to continually report and audit the building’s energy efficiency.

Once a building or facility has achieved a minimum of a four star energy rating it can apply to become a member of the NABERS certified system. The environmental performance of any building is dynamic, the NABERS rating system provides an indication of your buildings ongoing environmental performance. A certified entity can use the NABERS certified trademark in its marketing and promotion.

A buildings metering network is a key tool in the collection of data for the production of consumption/energy reports and for assessing a buildings operational efficiency performance.
